Noranda's smelting and refining technology recovers copper, silver, gold,
platinum, palladium, nickel, cadmium, selenium and tellurium.
-
Advantages
Approximately 50% of the output from Noranda's end-of-life electronics recycling
plants is shipped to Noranda's custom copper smelter in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec.
The balance(mainly steel and aluminum) is shipped to Noranda approved
facilities for smelting and refining. Noranda's smelter is one of only a few
facilities globally that has invested in the technology and enviromental
management systems necessary to recover metals in an environmentally-sound
manner from end of life electronics.
-
Facilities
Noranda Recycling has two plants focused on sampling and preparation of copper
and precious metals from electronic scrap, for ultimate recovery at the Horne
Smelter/CCR Refinery.
